Analysis of Stealth Shooter Games with Minigames and Design of an Immersive Experience - Upskill Research

Updated: Jun 8

ree

For my Upskill module I decided to analyze different FPS games and try applying different functionalities that encourage the stealth/hacking minigame focused FPS gameplay of a fictional game.

Content:

Arm animations

Added custom animations to the default Unreal FPS character hands, and I used them togheter in an animation blueprint with different states.

Custom Font

Created a custom font for the watch and the counter, it only supports numbers and punctuation/characters.

Diegetic UI

Made the health information of the player and mags in inventory be displayed on the smart watch face.

Weapon System

The gun has different states (full, used, empty) and it displays them accordingly, bullets are counted and create bullet hole decals.

Mechanic Analysis

As part of this project I also analysed a couple of mechanics from other games following a specific method, in Appedix A.1.

Below you can get a copy of my paper for the module. Read at your own discretion.

I will also add images of the whole paper in case you don't trust downloading files off a random Game Design student from the internet :^)
